Poilievre’s “solutions” (February 25, 2024)

Good Sunday Morning!

I am in Ottawa and will get to church this morning before joining the Green Party virtual general meeting, starting at 1 pm Ottawa time and 10 am at home in BC. With out of town staff in Ottawa to help run all the technology for the virtual meeting, we decided to have a “watch party” so local Ottawa Green volunteers can visit with JP and me and others who are rarely in Ottawa. Good Sunday Morning!

The National Leaders’ tour is now underway with great kick off events in Guelph on Friday and Saturday and more planned for Toronto and Kitchener this coming week. Today I am headed to church in Bowmanville, Ontario. Bowmanville is in the federal riding of Durham, a Conservative stronghold once represented by Bev Oda and then by Erin O’Toole. O’Toole’s departure from parliament last year led to Trudeau’s calling of a by-election for Durham to be held March 4. You Have To Read Between The Lines (February 11, 2024)

I started the week trying to push for a breakthrough on electoral reform, with a question in Question Period. On Monday. I was still hoping Justin Trudeau might be open to persuasion to support the motion for a Citizens Assembly on Electoral Reform. That motion began as Mike Morrice’s work, and then in a great effort of cross party cooperation, its sponsorship shifted to Lisa Marie Barron.
