To our Green members,
We all know that we are living in a most unusual time. A climate crisis is changing the world before our eyes, a pandemic has affected our society in ways we haven’t fully understood yet and our Prime Minister may call a federal election.
All these items are cause for great concern and here at our local level, it is most disconcerting. Your EDA executive has several members who are working with the Elizabeth May re-election campaign and those volunteers are focussed on that responsibility.
With all these pressures on our riding, it was decided by the executive at our recent meeting that the AGM will be postponed until after the expected federal election (date to be determined). It was a difficult decision to make as we would prefer to have the AGM done, but circumstances have changed our situation. Our previous AGM was in November 2020, so we have many months we can go before an AGM must be held.
Rather than cancel the planned meeting entirely, we will have a Meet and Greet in the afternoon of Sunday September 12, 2 to 4 p.m., at 6291 Rodolph Road, in the Tanner Ridge area.
We are pleased to tell you that Elizabeth May will attend this event and provide an opportunity for all of you to reacquaint yourself with our dear MP. This event will also allow you to reconnect with your own Green friends and make some new ones.
I would also like to remind our members that your Green team along with Elizabeth will be in attendance at the Saanich Fair on September 4, 5 and 6 at our usual location in the market area. After a hiatus of a year, it is wonderful to see that the Saanich Fair is a go this year.
Thank you.
