We need to pull together (July 25, 2021)

Good Sunday Morning!

Having left you last Sunday with news of wildfires around John’s farm in Ashcroft, I will start with the update. He is home safe, but it was scary and near thing for him to see the flames along the ridge across the Thompson River so close to his place. Having secured drip hoses, fire hoses and sprinklers in strategic locations, he had called at 9 pm Tuesday to say he did not see flames and it was just smoky. An Ear-Splitting Siren (July 18, 2021)

Good Sunday Morning!

All I can think of this morning is the climate emergency.  Tomorrow morning, John will take the earliest ferry to head to his farm in Ashcroft – now under evacuation alert.  His daughter who has been living there is still in Vancouver recovering from heat stroke after being in the 50 degree C record-smashing temperatures at end of June. Treaty 8 (July 4, 2021)

Good Sunday Morning!

A good morning wish on the famous flag-waving Fourth of July for our neighbours to the south.  Another nation born of theft of indigenous lands, the Doctrine of Discovery, with the added dollop of “manifest destiny.”

A serious reckoning is spreading well beyond our borders. Statues are being toppled, not only in Canada, but throughout the continent. Tributes to Spanish conquistadors, Queen Isabella, and Christopher Columbus are falling. Continue reading Treaty 8 (July 4, 2021)
