Films at the Star Cinema (November 9, 4-6 p.m.)
An evening of inspiration, community, and climate conversation — where hope meets action. For an event poster, click here.
SGI Greens and the BC Environmental Film Festival are again co-presenting. This time it’s two films followed by a discussion panel with Elizabeth May and filmmakers of the first film.
The two short films (also included in the BCEFF Film Festival online) are:
- Hope in the Anthropocene (runtime 23:08): This film delves into the lives of passionate environmentalists in British Columbia as they confront climate anxiety and navigate their complex relationship with hope amidst an increasingly fragile ecosystem.
- Journey Back to Alcedo (runtime 24:23): A friendship bonded by two things — volcanos and giant tortoises and a legacy written by science. “Journey Back to Alcedo”, tells a story of unconditional love between two intrepid 70-year-old best friends on their last ascent together to the place where it all started, and the legacy they leave to young scientists.
Tickets ($15) are available in advance from the BCEFF website (click here and scroll down). Tickets will also be available at the door, as long as seats remain available.
The Star Cinema will be providing a Popcorn+Drink combo for $6.50. Movies and popcorn!
